Drawing is one of the oldest and purest ways to express oneself. Trained in drawing and printmaking I’m really a draftsman. My current oil and cold wax series is somewhat autobiographical in that remembrances, experiences and emotions inform the paintings. Layers of imagery are added and scoured away as the work progresses, much like our lives do over time. As the surface is built up some parts fall away and what remains is the image the viewer sees. In the end the work hopes to capture a glimpse of unique moments in nature and in particular along water ways. Probably the ultimate metaphor for life is a river and these waterways (including Green Bay) have influenced and guided me in my creative practice.
