Encaustic is a wax-based paint, handmade in a lush palette of colors. The wax serves as a preservative, an adhesive and can be layered for textural effects or used transparently. My images “play with” these properties to produce luminous or textured or collaged compositions where the wax directs the results almost as much as the hand.

I am also intrigued by, and try to capture, the many moods and moments of Lake Michigan as well as recent forays into the use of maps as a layer in the process of the creation of the art.
