Turn to page 12 of the April 2012 the Artist’s Magazine and you’ll find a feature article on Woodwalk Gallery and the transformation of our 1890′s barn into the gallery, studio and events center.  Written by Judith Farley the article talks about the influence of wabi-sabi and Woodwalk’s emergence as a “welcoming arts destination”. Margaret is quoted as saying “Art is about being willing to take chances; from nothing you can make something beautiful.”

Yes, it’s a rip-off

sort of a Gee's Bend quilt square

sort of a Gee's Bend quilt square

All over Door and Kewaunee Counties historic quilt squares are popping up on family farm barns.  They are a celebration of “women’s work” on the farms, often grandmother’s handiwork, and the beauty of the barns.

Woodwalk is no longer a family farm so we are not eligible for the program nut we decided to participate anyway with a square reminescent of the quilts from the Gee’s Bend communiity.
