Sing- Along The Taming of the Shrew OR That’s What You Get For Lovin’ Me, May 30, 31 and June 1
Sing- Along The Taming of the Shrew OR That’s What You Get For Lovin’ Me is Woodwalk Gallery’s fifth annual fractured classic production to be presented Thursday May 30, Friday the31st and Saturday June 1. All productions are at 7:00 and are followed by a mead libation reception.
Although William Shakespeare would hardly recognize his classic play, all the play’s characters are present, the setting is still 16th century England and the intrigue to marry off the not-so-lovely and potentially-extremely-hard- to-live-with Kate is the plot. However, all who attend the play become included in the play’s troop of traveling troubadours and have a say about Kate’s fate and whether or not she is a willing participant in her future or an unwilling victim of the conventions of the time.
As with each year the cast is headlined by Leif and Jennifer Erickson playing respectfully (yes, really) Kate and Petruchio. They are joined by the ever trying-to-get-it-right Lockwood Family Players. When the audience sings-along with the musical numbers, they will be joining Mark Moede as The Man in Black in singing such classics as “Ring of Fire”, “O Lonesome Me”, “If I Were A Carpenter” and “That’s What You Get For Lovin’ Me”. Words are provided so it is like singing in the shower fully dressed with 80 other people. The production is only a little bawdy so children are invited.
Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by calling 920-868-2912.
