Welcome to the new Woodwalk
Contemporary art in a historic barn setting featuring 30 regional artists and large-scale, ethereal landscapes by artist/ owner Margaret Lockwood with studio on site. Featured artist events, theater happenings, receptions, Door County, Wisconsin at its best. The 1890's barn and straw-bale construction studio are worth the short drive off the main peninsula Highway 42 north of Sturgeon Bay.
We invite you to visit us year around in our new location at 6746 County Road G, between Carlsville and Egg Harbor.
Errata:
The guys working on the barn: Erik Frost, Mark Moede, Rich Higdon, Matt Stender. All artists.. They individually and collectively are a story...... You might especially enjoy Matt who has a Southern Door connection, a hunting fishing angle, and is a blossoming artist, relishing his connection with the other three more typical Northern Door artist types.
The theater piece- that's Mark's Provence... an intersection of politics, religion and theater. Theater no one will want to come to... Burma Shave type signs coming up the driveway "Controversy spoken here", "General public not welcome", "Prepare yourself to think".
The studio/ barn construction... the straw bale construction, the craftsmanship... that's Erik's piece. He and I have worked together before... he did the entry way into the Guenzel Gallery. For Christmas I gave him a plaque I made that said "A man who works with his hands is a laborer. A man who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. A man who works with is hands, his head and his heart is an artist."
Related to all of it is the sweat lodge and co-op workshop going into the Quonset hut... the Door County Men's Center.
AND OF COURSE, overriding all of this is Margaret's art work and Woodwalk Gallery.
